Sports & Activities, Teams & Clubs
In Fall of 2020, our Raven athletic teams will compete in a new conference intentionally designed to give student-athletes more opportunities for team-building, leadership and education-based benefits. They also give parents and community members a chance to get out, see each other, socialize and cheer on the Ravens! We aim to position student-athletes to earn scholarships and establish a foundation for success through that will mark their careers, friendships, family, citizenship and more.
Our teams do more than just perform on playing fields, courts and other settings. Many of our teams give back to the community with charity work. Ravenna Schools also offer students more than 40 clubs and activities. They sing, dance and act on stage, perform in bands, travel, build science projects, volunteer for great causes, play games and pursue their hobbies and passions.
We encourage visual arts with activities, classes, clubs and field trips for all grades.
Our annual art show celebrates student creativity and every year the community turns out to downtown Ravenna’s Art on Main, which focuses on local student art.
The singalongs in preschool and kindergarten later lead to the rewards of singing in the choir and performing in theater. Our middle and high school bands perform recitals and concerts – and the marching is as much a part of the big games as the teams.
By contrast, alternative schools – which include charter and online schools – only offer a fraction of the clubs and, often, no sports teams.
Take a Closer Look
This matters to students who seek friendship and want to pursue outside interests – which is the majority of all students. Socialization is a big reason why students leave alternative schools and choose Ravenna Schools instead. In fact, building character is a top priority in the Ravenna School District, especially for our youngest students.
